Nagravision OMA BCAST SmartCard Profile

After the successful introduction of its SIM-based service protection for Mobile TV (with Open Security Framework), the Nagravision OMA BCAST Smartcard Profile is the next step to secure the operator permanent revenue streams, with highly sophisticated security platforms. SIM-based service protection has quickly turned out to be key to a successful Mobile TV service.

This solution is based on well proven, mature technologies that have been successfully used in the Pay-TV world. This way the operator remains in full control and ownership of the subscriber.

The OMA BCAST Smartcard Profile is an open standardized SIM-based service protection system defined by OMA members, including mobile operators. Nagravision is committed to provide a fully compliant OMA BCAST Smartcard Profile solution.

Time to market and ecosystem availability

Nagravision has worked closely with its partners to ensure that the solution, from the service protection platform to the SIM and handset, is interoperable.

In 2007, covering the entire mobile TV value chain, Nagravision was the first to successfully run a fully operational, end-to-end OMA BCAST Smartcard Profile 1.0 Solution for mobile TV services with handsets and SIM partners. Continuing to lead the Mobile TV market, in 2008 Nagravision deployed the world’s first OMA BCAST Smartcard Profile platform in a mobile network environment at T-Mobile CZ, the leading mobile phone carrier in the Czech Republic. In line with T-Mobile's plans, Nagravision set-up a system for OMA BCAST Smartcard Profile in a complete play out ecosystem.

Fully compliant OMA BCAST SmartCard profile and BMCO launch profile

The Nagravision SCP solution is completely based on open standards, fully compliant with the BMCO launch profile as well as the OMA BCAST Smartcard Profile. Nagravision's platform provides all functions needed to protect the broadcasted services and contents. It is available today as an extension to existing Nagravision CAS integrations or as a stand-alone platform.

Like the Nagravision OSF Conditional Access, the OMA BCAST Smartcard Profile platform supports the standard interface of DVB Simulcrypt. This enables the operator to run DVB OSF and OMA BCAST Smartcard Profile service protection at the same time with the very same platform. This allows a service: operator to offer its mobile TV infrastructure to a multitude of operators who provide their mobile TV services independently from each other.
